Morning

Good morning, or Guten Morgen. I hope I spelled that correctly. That’s about all I have learned/remember from an app that I had a few months ago, but its name escapes me. Anyways, did you guys have time to check out The Walking Dead this week? I would say not much to talk about this week it was kind of an uncomfortable catch up episode. Would you agree? So, since the only other show I have really been watching is Veronica Mars I am going to do another book review today.

β€œI had no intention of writing a book. I had no need to write a story in general nor a story about my family and the Holocaust in particular. But life being what it is, sometimes things happen in mysterious, even surprising ways. Stuff that used to take center stage moves to the background, and background stuff moves downstage and center. That’s what happened in my case.”

Description

Did you ever get a phone call that changed your life?

That is what happened to author of this book.

A mysterious unexpected phone call hurls Yaron Reshef into an intensive two-year journey, during which he has to solve a mystery that took shape in the 1930s and gradually unfolded in the present. A mysterious lot, a forgotten bank account, a people long gone ”” along with their memory which were obliterated during the Holocaust. All of these rise to the surface, bearing with them memories and emotions previously hidden away in the shoebox. –Amazon

I stated in the past that my favorite books are generally similar to Harry Potter, but despite having a book shelf right next to me full of these kind of books I forgot that I love history books. Not like the ones you would get at school those were always so boring to me. I love the truth history books. I have no idea if that even made sense. Basically everyone of the ones I got were from Mental Floss. I suppose they are books of random facts with generally short stories about said fact. Anyways, so that’s kind of where my interest in this book came from.

“This is a message from your Dad. Okay, but why now.”(Excerpt) Yaron’s father has been gone for many years , and his mother is unable to talk. Yaron left with many questions and no immediate source for information set out on a journey to answer them. Yaron said he was always interested in his families history. Even stating in the book that he is unlike his sister in this sense.Β  It isn’t easy to write/tell a story that involves loved ones and horrific events that they experienced, and do it justice. However, if you were going to read a book to feel as though you were walking beside the Author on his journey for answers, this would be one of those books.
