Good Morning

Hey guys, did you have a good weekend? We had a busy(ish) weekend what with Halloween and then a family thing on Saturday. Surprisingly we woke up to snow on our mountains this morning, with a chance for us to get some today.

I am not sure I am ready for the snow yet. I hate that there isn’t much of fall weather. Here in Utah we get at most 4 weeks worth. We mostly have 2 seasons, really hot, and really cold. Whats it like where you guys are?

Lets get this party started!

Today’s movie I wasn’t too excited about watching. I am not big into horror movies anymore, especially since most of them tend to be the same kind of stuff. However, Matthew has been wanting to see, so I watched it with him. I read a bit about it before we watched it, just to see what kind of reviews it was getting.

I was optimistic about the movie after seeing the rating and news article that read spookiest movie of the year.

Have you figured it out yet?

Today’s Movie:

Before I get started I am in no way a “professional” movie critic, just simply stating my thoughts on this movie.

  • The movie follows this woman(Amelia) and her son(Samuel).
  • Amelia lost her husband to a car accident on the way to the hospital to give birth to Samuel.
  • The movie takes place 6 years almost 7 years later.
  • It all starts with the mom simply reading her son a bedtime story. (From the worlds creepiest popup book)
  • Samuel is a disturbed little boy.
  • Amelia is a stressed out single mom who gets no sleep.
  • Samuel (rather awesomely) makes weapons to fight monsters.
  • His cousin is a spoiled brat, who I believe deserved what she got, and frankly her mom could have used some of the same. (More opinion than plot)
  • After reading the book they are stalked by the BaBadook

My opinion/rating

I really liked this movie, until the end. There was suspense and the ratings for the movie were proving to be true. It played on the old school way of horror movies rather  than the current norm of blood and gore. At one point your told what the future is suppose to hold. So you watch waiting for said thing to happen, which, is something I did love about this movie.

As stated above I did not like the ending. In fact the ending ruined the whole movie for me. I don’t want to tell you what happened(its on amazon if you want to watch it), but it felt as though they didn’t know how to end the movie so they just threw something out and said cool, since we don’t have anything better lets go with that.

I give it a 3/5

If I rated solely based on the ending it would probably be more like a 1/5, but like I said I really liked the rest of the movie.
